2022
Has anything ever happened in your life that completely stopped you in your tracks? For me, that was “the accident” You think you are ready for anything. Maybe you even joke about it “if there was an accident, we’d be ok. We’d just…” but then that accident happens and literally brings you to your knees. 7/18/2021 “My family was in a car accident last night. My three oldest children and my in-laws. My mother in law did not make it. My father in law is in the hospital, several broken bones. In need of surgery at a later date for hands. Not critical, but still serious. Bryce’s trachea was severed…

Running. Running. Running.
Is there something that keeps you sane? For years, running has been that activity for me. When I was younger, I even broke up with long term boyfriends because they could not respect how important running was to me, and were constantly asking me to give up my runs in order to do other things. Running is a way of life. For some of you, you could replace “running” with “gardening” or “planning with stickers” or “swimming” etc. Those “way of life” activities are called self care. It is so, so important to make time for those things. When you don’t, everything else suffers. Sometimes, when I am particularly grouchy,…

Working on a workshop
Hard work builds character. So hopefully, by the time my tiny humans are full grown, their character is the stuff of legends. The thing about this move, is that we are moving from a small house, with a shed and a garage, and an attic, to a big house, with no shed, no attic, and no garage. So, while we are going to have lots more room for the family, we are seriously lacking in storage! Project number 1: Shed! And since we are the budget friendly kind of people that we are, we couldn’t simply buy a pre-fab shed. We bought a kit to build it ourselves. Finding time…

It’s Move Out Day!
Do you know how much stuff you have? I didn’t. I knew we had settled into our house… But I had no idea what that really meant! Between running two businesses out of our garage, a shed full of wood working tools, my husbands collections, and a three bedroom house full of life… We filled two 20′ storage containers, and four loads on the 8′ trailer! I am absolutely in awe of the amount of stuff we have accumulated! And if we did not have to be out today for our buyer’s final walk through, I would have been making a “to sell” and “to dump” pile. As it is,…

Pasture Pasture Pasture
First, let me say, we are so blessed to have such phenomenal neighbors! We are moving from a cookie cutter neighborhood with an HOA, so naturally, we do not have anything that you would need to start a farmstead. God has blesses us with the ability to move onto a lot smack between my sister-in-law, and my niece who have already started their country journey. Other than our driveway, our property right now is a blank slate. But since it has been farm land, there were some pretty significant ruts that needed smoothed out before it could be used as pasture. So around and around and around we went! Step…

Driveway and other accomplishments
One of the reasons I decided to start this blog at this particular time of life, is because after years of dreaming, we are FINALLY in the process of moving “out to the country.” We have put our house on the market *God willing* We will close at the end of this month, and transition smoothly into the new house! The hardest part right now is the excitement. I have lists upon lists of things I want to accomplish on the farm. I want a garden with everything A-Z, I want fruit trees, and bushes. I want goats, and chickens. Chickens for eggs, chickens for meat. I want rabbits, and…

Pizza Night
What are your favorite memories of childhood traditions? Did you go camping the first day of summer? Did you bake cookies on the first day of school? Did you have Friday night Pizza night? When I was a kid, there were lots of “unknown” things that went on in my home. As I am sure there were for most of you out there… But one thing I remember fondly was Friday night movie night. We would all pile into the van and go to the Hollywood Video store, and pick out a movie to watch. I only remember picking two movies. I’m not saying that I only got to pick…

Hey There
Hi, I’m Julia! You don’t know me. Well, you don’t know me, yet! I am a stay at home, work at home, part time working, homeschooling, Jesus loving, mom of four, wife of one. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, sister, friend, nurse, distance runner… I am a lot of things. But of all of the things that I am, my favorites are wife and mother. Like everyone in 2020 I seem to have a lot of time on my hands (pandemic induced quarantine and all that jazz) so what have I done with my extra time? Naturally I have taken absurd amounts of Facebook quizzes! What else…
